Neurosurgical Hospital GOT EXTENDED AND RENOVATED INTENSIVE CARE
The Intensive Care Unit of the Neurosurgery Clinic is currently working with 30 percent more capacity, that is, from now on they will be able to be treated at the same time 11 patients, and so far the capacity was about eight. The director of the Neurosurgery Clinic, Dr. Vladimir Rendevski, said the department has been expanded by approx 30 square meters, that is, it now occupies 140 square meter area and architecturally completely rearranged.
Neurosurgery Intensive Care is the second largest such department in the country and it annually treats about 700 most severely ill patients, which are often vitally endangered.
"We have made a complete air conditioning of the intensive care unit, with separate air conditioning chamber, by installing hepa filters, by maintaining adequate pressure for a European intensive care unit. We have installed new gasification for new ampoules and air oxygen supply for the new respiratory machines. So far we have provided four new respirators from good European manufacturers, and we have completely renovated the existing respirators. We provided and 11 new beds with all standards for these seriously ill patients ", said Dr. Rendevski.
He explained that the renovation was done from the budget of the Clinic, and that in the meantime they employed two trainees in anesthesiology and intensive care, as well as six nurses. According to him, the department has a sufficient number of medical staff.
The Minister of Health Venko Filipce, who is himself a neurosurgeon, said they plan to introduce two new working methods at the Neurosurgery Clinic next year.
"We plan to introduce a hybrid room with a mobile portable angiograph, and get the Da Vinci robot to start robotic surgery. These are modern methods, which facilitate the treatment of our patients, shorten the time spent in hospital, and thus the results of the treatment themselves. We plan to procure the robot for the clinics: neurosurgery, digestive surgery, urology and gynecology. It performs robotic surgery, and the advantage is that it is minimally invasive, the intervention itself is shorter and the patient's recovery time shorter. For a start, we will send two doctors from each of these clinics for education, and then the purchase of the robot will follow ", said Philip.
